Keel Russell is a serial entrepreneur, veteran, speaker, and founder of Umbree Rain Gear, a company that makes fashionable, fun, and durable umbrellas you’ll love so much, you’ll wish it would rain more often, just so you could use yours.
Keel’s commitment to innovation can visibly be seen, in the way he’s tackled how to make a product that’s been around for more than 100 years, feel like it is fresh, new, and personal.
Keel has Masters degree in Management Information Systems, from Florida International University. But his entrepreneurial passions began young, when he started selling candy bars out of his book bag at school, soon after he and his family immigrated from Jamaica.
His interest in innovation and technology were further developed during his twelve years serving in the United States Army Reserves, including a volunteer tour of duty in Iraq.
Russell’s time serving in the military gave him the strategic foundation and discipline he needed to launch his career as a business owner. The ventures he’s run prior to Umbree Rain Gear include a talent agency, a plus-sized lingerie business, and a concierge marketing company.
Due to his humble upbringing, Keel has a heart for giving back to his community in a way that helps others build a life they deserve. Because of his commitment to serving others, a portion of the proceeds from each umbrella purchase is donated to a hand-selected group of charities.
Branded versions of the umbrella are available, for companies that want to extend their brand footprint. You can find Keel’s umbrellas in Walmart, Amazon, Seminole Hard Rock Cafe & Casinos, and over at umbree.com.
